It's the beginning of August and we hope you've been enjoying the summer sun. We're back with a few more updates for you -- let's get started!
Check your inbox for the Player's Guide Playtest PDF!
An *almost* final copy of the Player's Guide text (pre-layout!) was sent earlier today to all backers who have backed for the Basic PDF and up via DriveThruRPG. Check your inbox and follow the link in the email to download it. We're thrilled to finally share this with you, so let us know what you think!
If you didn't get the PDF, it may be because you didn't complete your BacerKit survey. Please make sure you did, or reach out to us at [email protected] for help.
The Player's Guide is both a rulesbook and the players' side of the learn-as-you-play Basic Box. It teaches the basic game through short sections you can read out loud at the table, but it also has extra details and rules for the mechanics lovers under "The Details" in each section. For the complete learn-as-you-play experience, you'll need the MC Guide, which is coming next.
We've included the Backer List in the Player's Guide, so please check that your name is inthere and that there are no mistakes. Reach out to us to [email protected] if anything needs to be changed and with any feedback on the Player's Guide in general.
What's next?
Next the Player's Guide will undergo sensitivity reading, proofreading, indexing, and then layout. While a part of the team is doing all that, we'll also be releasing the final texts for the MC Guide, the Creation Guide, and the AdventureAnthology in the next couple of weeks -- so stay tuned!

We have just as exciting news from the product front -- firstsamples for both the Q-Factor Dice and the Absolutely Fabulous Plushies have been completed and are making their way to us for inspection. We have some pictures that we got from the manufacturers.

We really think that the new effect for the Q-Factor Dice looks amazing! And wait till you see the box they come in!

REMINDER: UPCOMING SHIPPING FEES
As we're approaching completion and eventually shipping of the game, we wanted to remind you that the shipping fees for this project will be collected before we ship via BackerKit. You'll also be able to update your address.
Here is the estimated shipping fees table published on the Kickstarter campaign (you can also see it on the campaign tab of this project). When were getting ready to ship, we'll send out an update with all the details.

PDFs Coming in August! * Delays in Print * New Q-Factor Dice

We have some news and updates for you today, let's dig in:
PDFs Coming Next Month!
We're in the process of doing the final edits on the PDFs and moving them to layout later this month. This should allow us to share with you the finished PDFs next month (in August). In the meantime, every time we finish editing a PDF, we will release a backer version with text only (pre-layout) so you can start reading the game. The PDFs will be sent to you via DriveThruRPG and will include:
- The Player's Guide
- The MC Guide
Plus, for the All PDFs tier and above:
- The Character Creation Guide
- Vol #1 of the QUEERZ! Graphic Novel
- The Adventure Anthology
We will be rolling out the PDFs for all of these QUEERZ! titles next month!
New Mechanics - Fusion
Some of the aspects of the game that we're still honing are the new mechanics, aimed at making QUEERZ! TTRPG an exciting and heartfelt super sentai game. For example, in City of Mist you can burn one of your tags for an instant success. This game mechanic was changed to Fusion, where two characters or more can combine their attacks in an exciting new way to get a power up. The more Queerz combine their weapons / shields / rainbow flashes / brain power / sass -- the stronger the effect!!
Premium Dice Change
Over the past couple of months we've struggled to get the manufacturer of the premium dice to provide the service and product we need. Therefore, we recently decided to change manufacturer and partnered with Metallic Dice Games which we think will produce a new set of Q-Factor dice that will look and feel better than our previous design. We'll be sharing pictures of the new Q-Factor dice and box designs as soon as we get the samples from MDG!
Delay in Production
Due to this setback and longer-than-expected editing times for the game, we won't be able to start manufacturing in time for everything to ship in September as scheduled. Instead, physical goods will likely ship around November-December. We promise to make our best efforts to ship everything to all backers as quickly as we can, but without compromising on the quality of content and production that you've come to expect from a Son of Oak game!
All other products (the QUEERZ! dice, pins, plushies, etc.) are on schedule for this new timeline.

Hi there brilliant sentai fighters of love,
We're here today with a new update bursting with color. Overall, we are on track for fulfillment in September as planned. Check out all the great things we've got for you below!
NEW CHARACTER SKETCHES!
Isago has been working on art for the game, so we're excited to share sketches of the four extra characters we unlocked in the stretch goals by Limina - QUEERZ SILVER (by Jabari Weathers ), Rhianna Rogers - QUEERZ INDIGO (by Alison Cybe), DJ Cal Li - QUEERZ GOLD (by Sen-Foong Lim), and Nina Rosado - QUEERZ FUSCHIA (by Brandy Rose) as well as the villains Mr. and Mrs. Daly (by Collette Quach) and Dianne Taylor (by Joshua Kim). Note that while the villains are already written, the writing of the new Queerz pregens is waiting for the Character Creation Guide to begin. All designs are still pending feedback from the creators, but tell us what you think in the comments!
FIRST DICE SAMPLES!
We literallyjust now got the first dice samples for the QUEERZ! Dice included in all boxes (2 in the Basic Box and Core Box and all 8 in the Adventure Box and Fabulous Box). Don't they look all cute and charged up?? Imagine a whole rainbow empathy of those... Just ready to strike a pose!
It's hard to see in today's bright sun, but the top and bottom dice have white numbers and Q emblem, while in the left and right samples they are silver. We promise to pick the best option but let us know if you have any feedback!

PROGRESS REPORT
The editing phase is stretching out a little bit, but that was to be expected. Between the Player's Guide, MC Guide, Character Creation Guide and Adventure Anthology, lead writer Steven Pope and adventure writers Keith Asada (Cry Havoc), Robin Caulfield (Hero Support), Sam Kusek (Mirror, Mirror), and Lloyd Gyan (A Feast for the Senses) have created quite a lot of content for this game!
Our chief editor Eran Aviram should complete editing this by the end of the week, while yours truly undertakes the final review of the books. We really want this game to shine, so we're being as painstaking as usual. Next up is sensitivity reading, proofreading, layout -- all lined up -- and then we will release the PDFs and go to print!

We've received letters and calls from your chosen charity organizations such as The Trevor Project and the National Center for Transgender Equality thanking all of YOU backers for your generosity and allyship. These donations were provided by the sale of the charity copies of the game that you helped fund with your pledges, and will be used to support and expand the important activity of these organizations, advocating for LGBTQ rights and defending LGBTQ lives.
As we're navigating through tough times, when established human rights are once again under threat, the work of these organizations has become critical, so we join them in thanking you for your support!
OMG VOLUME #2!!
ISA shared with us the ink-stage QUEERZ! Volume #2 with issues #7-#12, continuing the story from Volume #1 (which is only coming out in print in September!). At this point, I can only share that great things are coming as the Queerz team faces off with ever-increasing levels of Ignorance -- including their own. We're already planning how to bring this Volume #2 to life after the coming Volume #1!

While the production of QUEEZ! is moving full steam ahead, we're excited to launch the Kickstarter campaign for a new game set in the universe of City of Mist: TOKYO:OTHERSCAPE!
:Otherscape is a cyberpunk-fantasy roleplaying game in a megacity of tech and myth, powered by City of Mist: Reloaded, an improved version of the original CoM engine.
This Kickstarter campaign will fund the creation of the game’s corebook — Metro:Otherscape — and the first urban setting book — Tokyo:Otherscape — focusing on the Megacities of Japan and Japanese spirits and specters known as Yokai, Kami, Oni, and more.
